Why does my candle look weird?
It’s just different! Your candle may have white speckles, this is called frosting and is a property of plant wax. It is caused by temperate changes, it will not affect your candle. When your candle sets it may be lumpy, this is another property of plant wax and it will not affect your candle.
How do I recycle my candle tin?
When your wax level has between 5-10mm left, extinguish. Let it set, then put your candle in the freezer for a few hours. Gently pop the wax out with a spoon and put in general waste, along with the wick and glue. Wash the candle with hot soapy water, dry and put it in your recycling bin.
Are your candles environmentally friendly?
We are against greenwashing at Aomi Home. Everything in our store is a luxury, and therefore we don’t believe it can be labelled as environmentally friendly. However, when building this brand a lot of thought went into sustainable choices. We use aluminium tins for our candles instead of glass, as metal takes less energy to produce, and is easier to recycle. Our packaging and labels are made from paper and are recyclable.
Are your products vegan?
We have made every effort to ensure our products are vegan and cruelty free. Please note that the founder and maker (me!) is not vegan.
Is your home fragrance pet safe?
We cannot guarantee any of our home fragrance is pet safe. This is because all products with fragrance have an allergy risk. Allergens are listed on the CLP label which is on the candle and on the website. Please contact us if you need help.
Are your candles paraffin free?
No. Our cotton wicks are coated with a thin layer of paraffin wax for stability. This is essential for plant wax candles. The high melt point of the paraffin wax keeps the wick stable, we cannot change this as this is as they are supplied this way.
Do you have essential oil candles?
Our candles are made with fragrance oils and not pure essential oils, however some may contain essential oils. We are not yet working on pure essential oil candles, if this is something you’re interested in, just sent us a message.
